Hundreds Mourn Death of Burned Baby in New Jersey

PEMBERTON, N.J. (AP) — Hundreds of strangers have gathered in New Jersey to say goodbye to a newborn girl who was set on fire and left in a road to die.

A Wednesday evening service at a Pemberton church recalled the baby who was posthumously named Angelica by her grandmother.

The baby died Saturday after being set on fire on a rural road. Her 22-year-old mother, Hyphernkemberly Dorvilier, has been charged with murder and is being held in jail with a bail of $500,000.

Mourners sang hymns and clutched candles. Some wore white to remember the baby.

Investigators say Dorvilier was found with a can of WD-40 and a lighter in her jacket pocket. The baby had burns over most of her body and still had the umbilical cord and placenta attached.
