So. San Francisco Police Warning Residents of Thief Who Posed As A Utility Worker

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Police are warning residents of a recent burglary involving a person posing as a utility worker.

Police say a South San Francisco resident was entering his home on the 3700 block of Cork Place at about 9 a.m. Monday morning, when a man claiming to be with the water department followed him inside.

The suspect then asked the man to turn on all the water faucets in the house to do a test. When the resident did as told the suspect stole jewelry and fled the home.

He is described as a black male between 30 to 40 years old, approximately 5-feet 9-inches tall wearing all black clothing.

Police are reminding residents that utility company employees do not enter homes without prior notice, and residents should ask for id and call the utility company for verification.
