Fire Extinguished At A San Rafael Safeway Store

SAN RAFAEL — Firefighters have extinguished a late night fire at a Safeway store in San Rafael

The fire was reported around 11:30 p.m. at 950 Las Gallinas Ave.

When crews arrived, a trailer at the store’s loading dock was on fire and the fire was spreading to the building. Firefighters were able to halt the fire’s progress before it reached the flammable and combustible
materials inside the loading dock.

Fire officials said it appears the fire started in the trailer that was part of pressure washer being used in the store. The trailer and its contents were a total loss, fire officials said.

The cause of the fire is under investigation.
