SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)– San Francisco police are searching for a male suspect who allegedly assaulted an officer after he fled during a police investigation near the South of Market Caltrain station last month.
Police say the suspect fled from officers on Jan. 23 at about 5:40 p.m. as they were investigating at the corner of Fourth and King streets.
When the suspect fled, he knocked a police officer off of a light-rail train platform, which caused the officer to fall onto the ground below.
Police say that although the officer was injured in the fall, he pursued the suspect on foot.
The suspect evaded police, but the San Francisco Municipal Transportation Agency captured pictures of the man on surveillance cameras while he was on a Muni light-rail vehicle.
Police are asking for help in identifying the suspect in the surveillance images. Anyone who can identify the suspect, or has information about the case can contact San Francisco police Sgt. Martin Bandvik at (415) 671-2300. Anonymous tips can be made through the tip line at (415) 575-4444, or text-a-tip to TIP411 with “SFPD” at the beginning of the message.
