23-Year-Old San Jose Man Arrested For Allegedly Stealing Girl Scout’s Cash

SAN JOSE (KRON) — Police arrested a San Jose man for allegedly stealing a cash box from a 10-year-old girl selling cookies with her Girl Scouts troop on Sunday.

The theft happened while the girl was selling cookies at around 2:45 p.m. outside of the Safeway grocery store, located at 1663 Branham Lane in San Jose, police said.

Cody Gintz, 23, allegedly took the cash box from the girl by force.

When police officers arrived, they quickly put out a description of the suspect and the car he was driving.

Other officers responding to the scene spotted the car and arrested Gintz.

The money and cash box were returned to the girl and her scouts troop. Police said no injuries were reported.

Gintz was booked in the Santa Clara County Jail, police said.
