MENLO PARK (KRON) — A female driver was killed after a Caltrain struck her vehicle on the tracks in Menlo Park during Monday’s evening commute.
The incident was reported by Caltrain just before 5 p.m. when southbound train No. 360 struck a vehicle at Ravenswood Avenue. All traffic is holding near Menlo Park, according to Caltrain officials.
“We are currently not moving in either direction near #MenloPark. An occupied vehicle was struck on the tracks. #Caltrain,” the agency said on its official Twitter account.
Services has been stopped in both directions at Menlo Park. The agency is advising passengers to consider alternate transit from Palo Alto north and south.
The vehicle’s lone occupant, described as a woman in her 30s, had to be extricated from the car and was taken to Stanford Hospital where she died, officials said.
About 350 people on board the train were not injured according to police. The crash is also impacting traffic on either side of the Ravenswood railroad crossing.
