Reward Offered for Info In Case Involving Dogs Thrown From Car

SANTA CRUZ CO. (KRON)– Pet food express is offering a $5,000 reward and a private citizen is offering a $1,000 reward for a tip leading to the arrest of a person or persons who are responsible for throwing a dog and her puppy from a car.

It happened near the dump in Watsonville.

The dogs were sealed in sand bags.

On February 20 at 5 p.m. the Santa Cruz County Animal Control Officers found the abandoned dog and puppy on Minto Road. The dog is a tan and white Miniature Pincher and Chihuahua mix who is approximately 6 years old. The deceased puppy was about 4-6 weeks old.

The Santa Cruz County Sheriff’s Office and District Attorney’s Office are assisting in the investigation.

The adult mom dog, which the shelter named “Beverly” is at the Center for Animal Protection and Education for adoption.

She will placed in a foster home first and will have medical tests done.
