OAKLAND (BCN) — A person of interest has been identified in the shooting of a popular high school football player in Fruitvale, according to police. 14-year-old Davon Ellis was shot and killed while walking with friends in the 3300 block of Brookdale Avenue, east of Coolidge Avenue, at about 7:50 p.m. Saturday.
According to Oakland police chief Sean Whent the person of interest has been identified, and is currently in custody for an incident unrelated to Davon Ellis.
