SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — An arrogant Mixed Martial Arts fighter gets a dose of his own medicine when his opponent knocked him out during their title bout.
It happened after the heavily tattooed Julz “The Jackal” tried to bully Ben “10” Nguyen during a promotional photo shoot in front of photographers and fans.
A video posted on YouTube shows “The Jackal” and Nguyen on a stage posing in a fighting stance. Jackal appears to aggressively push his fist into Nguyen’s face then begins headbutting him. Nguyen remains calm the whole time and even flashes a smile.
The scene jumps to their title fight which starts with Nguyen chasing Jackal around the octagon while throwing a flurry of punches at his head. The Jackal tries to counter with a right hook but Nguyen catches him with an uppercut that sends the tattooed bully down to the mat.
Nguyen then pounces on him and launches a series of blows at Jackal’s face before the referee steps in.
During an AMA (Ask Me Anything) on Reddit, Nguyen said that this was the first time in his fighting career anyone tried to physically intimidate him during a fight promotion.
“This was the first time I’ve encountered this type of behavior but I don’t pay any attention to it. I’ve always looked up to Solid Snake from MGS and thought ‘wish I could be like him’ or ‘what would Snake do in this situation,'” he said.
Nguyen revealed that he was harassed as a kid which resulted in him taking self-defense classes.
“I was bullied when I was in middle school which lead me to taking up Tae Kwon Do at a young age. I loved martial arts and competing so MMA was just a natural progression,” Nguyen said.
