Budget Crisis Forces Layoffs At East Bay School District

LAFAYETTE (KRON) — Acalanes Union High School District voted Wednesday to lay off more than a dozen employees.

Seven of the layoff notices will go to full-time classified staff members at the Del Valle Education Center.

The Acalanes Adult Education Center is run out of that center.

The director of the adult education will also be laid off.

Eight other classified full-time staff members will also be let go.

These employees will be laid off before the start of the 2015-2016 school year.

There is a chance that at least two of the certified employees might be able to stay working in the district if they are hired for two open teaching positions.
