Salvation Army Uses Popularity of #TheDress For Powerful Message

(KRON) The Southern African branch of The Salvation Army has appropriated the new found popularity of a polarizing dress color to convey an important message– domestic abuse awareness.

A photo of ‘the dress’ went viral last week because the general population couldn’t come to a consensus on what color it was.  Some saw blue and black, some saw gold and white.

The tweet features a woman wearing the dress, covered in bruises.  It reads “Why is it so hard to see black and blue? One in 6 women are victims of abuse. #StopAbuseAgainstWomen”

“The only illusion is if you think it was her choice,” the ad notes.
