SAN JOSE (KRON) — Santa Clara County Sheriff’s deputies are looking for an inmate who fought and injured a deputy, before escaping the Santa Clara Valley Medical Center. According to a spokesman, the man escaped in the area of Interstate Highway 880.
The man has been identified as Johnell Carter, a 40-year-old male who is 5’11 and weighs 225 pounds. He was last seen wearing green pants and a green shirt, and has a neck tattoo that reads ‘Alice’. Carter was booked into the county jail for five counts of molestation.
The inmate had an altercation early this afternoon with the deputy in the area of Thornton Way and Moorpark Avenue, sheriff’s spokesman Sgt. James Jensen said.
Jensen, who arrived at the scene shortly before 2:30 p.m., said that the suspect fled about a block to the west toward I-880.
Moorpark Avenue is closed from Monroe Street to Ginger Lane.
The condition of the deputy injured in the clash with the suspect is unknown.
