GILROY (KRON) — Gilroy Police have made a third arrest in the Feb. 16 murder of 56-year-old Robert Joseph Heiser.
Police served an arrest warrant for 20-year-old Gerardo Cisneros while he was in custody on an unrelated matter in Alameda County. Cisneros was booked at the Santa Clara County Jail on murder charges.
Just a week after Heiser’s death, arrested 19-year-old Gabriela Bernice Ortiz of San Jose. She was one of two women believed to have been seen on surveillance video using Heiser’s credit card at an East San Jose convenience store the day.
The other woman was identified as 17-year-old Isabella Chaidez, also of San Jose, is still at large.
Gilroy Police were called in the early morning of Feb. 16, after a neighbor called in a complaint about barking dogs near Heiser’s house in the 1400 block of Bay Tree Drive. When police arrived, they found Heiser unconscious inside the house.
Heiser was pronounced dead at the scene. According to the Santa Clara County medical examiner’s office, the results of an autopsy on Heiser’s body has not been cleared for release by Gilroy police.
There were no signs of a violent death, but his death was deemed suspicious because the dogs were barking before his body was found.
Just two days later, on Feb. 18, police released surveillance video taken at the convenience store on White Road early in the morning of Feb. 16. The video shows Ortiz and Chaidez walking into the store and then using Heiser’s credit card to purchase some items.
Investigators continue to follow up on leads that will lead them to 17- year old Isabella Chaidez also wanted in connection to this murder, police said.
