Petaluma Man Arrested for Elder Abuse

PETALUMA (KRON) — A Sonoma County man is in jail, accused to hurting an elderly man Thursday morning.

A resident of the Vintage Chateau senior apartments called police around 7 a.m., letting them know that one of his neighbors was hurt and needed help.

He identified Samuel John Hanavan as the person who hit the elderly man.

The senior was taken to the hospital with serious injuries to his face.

25- year-old Hanavan left the complex in the 300 block of N. McDowell Blvd, and was found at the CVS Pharmacy in the Plaza North Shopping Center.

Hanavan was booked into the Sonoma County Jail and is facing charges of assault causing great bodily injury, elder abuse, domestic violence and a
probation violation.

He is scheduled to be arraigned Monday afternoon.
