Two detained in El Cerrito shooting that shutdown high school

EL CERRITO (KRON) — A campus lock down has been lifted after police swarmed the area surrounding El Cerrito High School in search of gunman Friday afternoon.

According to police, a resource officer found a 19-year-old man with a single bullet to his arm in front of El Cerrito High School located at 540 Ashbury Ave. at about 3 p.m. School officials would not confirm if the shooting happened on campus.

the victim received first aid, but refused treatment at the scene and sought treatment on his own. Police said the man was in stable condition.

The victim was not cooperative with investigators, said El Cerrito police Capt. Mike Regan.

No students were injured. About half of the student population is still on-campus at this time.

Officers shutdown several streets in the area within blocks of the campus which has been placed on lock down. Police say that an “8 block radius is closed to all vehicle and pedestrian traffic while we conduct a search.”
