LOS ANGELES (KRON) — Vin Diesel gave a heartfelt tribute to his late friend Paul Walker at an advance screening of “Furious 7” in Los Angeles.
The hunky actor told the audience on Monday that “this was a very very personal and important film for us.”
“When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend, I lost my brother. Tonight…” Diesel started to say. Overwhelmed with emotion, he then took a long pause, stood paralyzed and stared into the audience.
“You got family here, Vin!” one fan shouted.
Walker was reportedly one of two people killed in a single vehicle accident involving a Porsche in Santa Clarita, north of Los Angeles. Roger Rodas, the friend who was driving the Porsche, lost control of the vehicle and slammed into a tree. The car burst into flames almost immediately after the crash with both Walker and Rodas trapped inside.
The actor was killed while taking a break from filming the seventh “Fast and Furious” movie. The film was finished using previous footage and stand-ins including Walker’s two brothers.
“This was a labor of love. It was in some ways the hardest movie I ever had to do,” Diesel said. “Because the relationships that you see on film are so real. When the tragedy happened, I lost my best friend. I lost my brother.”
“Furious 7” debuts in theaters on April 3.
