Why does George R.R. Martin kill ‘Game of Thrones’ characters?

(KRON) — The much-anticipated season 5 premier of one of HBO’s most successful shows is upon us, and Kron4 is covering all the action.

The event will bring out the show’s cast and production staff to premiere the “Game of Thrones” fifth season including Nikolaj Coster-Waldau, Emilia Clarke, and award-winning actors Peter Dinklage and Maisie Williams.

The fifth season will derive from George R.R. Martin’s fantasy trilogy, and will chronicle the events of the books A Feast for Crows, and A Dance with Dragons.

Martin, who is one of the highest grossing fantasy authors of all time, was inspired to write the series after his childhood turtles kept dying.  As a young boy he would imagine the turtles as lords and ladies, and would invent elaborate story lines.  His signature writing style of killing off beloved main characters is the result of his turtles dying without warning.

One of the fan-favorite characters, Arya Stark, is quoted in the show as saying “Anyone can be killed,” which is a theme that always leaves viewers on the edge of their seats.

Who will survive season 5? Find out when the show hits television sets April 12th.
