Santa Clara Sheriff’s Office Reports Officer-Involved Shooting

SANTA CLARA (KRON) — A Santa Clara Sheriff’s deputy is reporting an officer-involved shooting in San Jose.

According to officers, they got a call about suspicious activity on Sweigert Road.  When deputies arrived they spotted two vehicles.  One of the vehicles then tried to run over a deputy.

The deputy fired his weapon as the two vehicles sped away.  The second car was stopped down the road, and the two occupants were detained.

There are no reports of any injuries resulting from the incident.

The shooting follows a tense manhunt after a shootout Tuesday night in East San Jose between police officers and a heavily armed gunman. The gunfight claimed the life of 14-year San Jose Police Department veteran Michael Johnson. The suspect in that case, 57-year-old Scott Dunham, was found dead early Wednesday morning.
