Amid growing accolades and popularity, Warriors’ Steph Curry lands on cover of ESPN’s ‘Point Guard Issue’

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — Steph Curry’s star shines brighter over the NBA with each risible crossover and majestic three-pointer. And the awards continue to pile up for the two-time All Star this season, all while leading the Golden State Warriors to a division title and a run at the leagues best record, 60-13.

Curry’s success has also landed him on the cover of ESPN The Magazine’s “Point Guard Issue” next to the headline “THE HOOP BEHIND THE HYPE.”

“The issue examines and celebrates the burgeoning era of the point guard/playmaker and Curry has become the ultimate embodiment of that concept,” said senior writer Dave Fleming.

But why put Curry on the cover? Chris Paul is the highest ranked point guard in the NBA, according to ESPN The Magazine.

“It doesn’t hurt that he’s an MVP candidate, the Warriors are having a season for the ages or that as a Davidson, N.C. resident I’ve known Steph since college. He’s the future of the game and The Magazine has produced two definitive pieces on him in the last year.”

The phenom’s growing popularity earned him the most fan votes for this year’s All-Star Game, and he is expected to take the league’s Most Valuable Player award.
