Hit and Run in Salinas

SALINAS (BCN) –A bicyclist was injured in a collision with car that fled the scene in Salinas early Friday morning, police said.

Around 6:15 a.m., a 39-year-old man was riding his bicycle south on North Main Street and made a left turn to Iris Drive where he was struck by a maroon Honda heading north on the far right lane, police said.

Other cars on two of the three lanes stopped for a red light at the time of the collision, according to police.

The bicyclist traveled up the car’s hood, broke its windshield and fell off to the pavement, police said.

He was transported to the trauma unit at Natividad Medical Center to be treated for a dislocated shoulder, broken ribs and possible concussion, according to police.

The suspect vehicle briefly stopped after the collision then headed north on North Main Street, police said.

Arriving officers did not find the suspect car, according to police.
