MILLBRAE (KRON) — Fire crews are working a second-alarm structure fire that started this afternoon that temporarily shut down several roads in Millbrae, according to the Millbrae Fire Department.
The fire was reported at 3:38 p.m. at 1006 Helen Drive between Millbrae Meadows Park and Meadows Elementary School.
There were initial reports of explosions coming from the home but firefighters did not witness any once they reached the scene, Central County Fire Chief John Kammeyer said. The blaze was under control within 10 minutes of crews arriving on scene, he said.
One resident was treated at the scene for “fairly serious” burns and was transported to a hospital, Kammeyer said.
Neighboring structures were not threatened by the blaze, he said. The home sustained significant damage in the fire and is uninhabitable, Kammeyer said.
While firefighters were at the scene, traffic was closed on Helen Drive from Sleepy Hollow to Banbury lanes and on Larkspur Drive from Helen Drive to Pinehurst Court, county officials said.
