Dead bird found from creek cement spill

OAKLAND (KRON) — East Bay Municipal Utility District crews are back in Oakland, cleaning up a cement spill that filled more than a half a mile of the Glen Echo Creek in the Rockridge neighborhood.

According to EBMUD, the incident happened at around 9:30 a.m. when a valve was left open on a pipeline.

EBMUD says that between 110 to 170 cubic yards of cement flowed into the creek by Clarewood Drive.

After surveying the spill, EBMUD crews started to clean up the spill, but not until after 3 p.m.

Crews were back to work around 8:30 Thursday morning.

EBMUD officials say the cleanup could take days to complete.
