OAKLAND (KRON) – Police arrested a man suspected of firing shots from an East Oakland marijuana grow house Thursday morning. The man surrendered to police after a six hour standoff with police.
Officers responded to a residence on the 2200 block of East 24th Street at about 3 a.m. after receiving a call about gunfire in the area, police said.
A SWAT team was sent to the residence and eventually officers were able to make contact with the man who was inside. Shortly before 9 a.m., he surrendered and spoke with officers, police said.
Police say that a preliminary investigation indicates that a suspect or suspects had tried to enter the house. During the investigation, officers discovered a marijuana grow operation inside the home, according to police.
