Police Chase Ends In Violent Crash, Closes Road In Hayward

HAYWARD (KRON) — A police chase ended with a car crashing into an electric pole and a suspect running from the scene in Hayward Friday morning, according to the California Highway Patrol.

Hayward Police advises drivers this morning to avoid Tennyson Road due to a current traffic issue. Currently, Tennyson Road is closed between Ruus Road and Andrea Street, according to police.

The crash occurred on Tennyson Road and was first reported around 1 a.m., according to the CHP. The driver of the suspect vehicle fled the scene on foot and hasn’t yet been apprehended, according to the CHP. A CHP vehicle was involved in the pursuit, officers said.

At least two passengers were reported to have suffered minor injuries in the crash. Hayward police remain on the scene and are asking commuters to avoid the area this morning.
