BERKELEY (KRON) — A student at UC Berkeley was arrested on suspicion of recording students in student housing bathrooms and showers.
Alfred Mendez, 20, is suspected of unlawful recording inside a residence hall at the University of California at Berkeley, according to campus police.
On March 30, police said they received a report that a student had noticed a cellphone extended underneath the stall partition inside a co-ed restroom, with the camera facing up.
The victim exited the stall and waited for the suspect inside the adjacent stall to leave, according to police.
When Mendez exited, and the victim recognized him as a hall resident, police said.
Police sized Mendez’s phone and laptop, along with other evidence and found several videos of voyeurism inside the dorms.
According to campus police, Mendez no longer resides in the building.
