LA County Metro starts campaign to fight sex harassment

LOS ANGELES (AP) – Los Angeles County’s mass transit agency has a new campaign to fight sexual harassment after a report found that many train and bus riders had been victims.

Metro’s “It’s Off Limits” campaign was introduced Thursday.

Officials say paper and video ads will be placed in buses and trains urging people to report incidents of sexual harassment. They can call a Sheriff’s Department hotline or use a cellphone app called the LA Metro Transit Watch.

Earlier this year, Metro released a survey of more than 22,000 riders. Nearly a quarter of the riders said they’d seen people exposing themselves or been the victims of improper touching or sexual comments.
