Infant safe after a car was stolen from the Tenderloin neighborhood with the baby inside

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — A baby is safe with its mother, after being kidnapped during a car burglary in San Francisco’s Tenderloin neighborhood.

Police say that a 4-month-old baby was inside a vehicle that was stolen from the 100 block of Golden Gate Avenue near the Market Street intersection.

Police stopped the car just a few blocks away, on 7th Street. The baby was found safe, still inside the car.

The driver of the car, Solomon Alemu, a 34-year-old San Francisco man, was arrested and charged with kidnapping, child endangerment and probation violation.

A similar incident happened in Fairfield last week. That child was also recovered safely.
