SAN JOSE (KRON) — The latest figures show that there are now 38.7 million people in California. That’s up 1% from the state’s population in 2014.

The state Department of Finance released figures Friday morning showing that California added 358,000 residents in 2014. That’s about the same growth rate from 2013-2014.

Los Angeles remains the largest city in the state, with almost 4 million people. While still smaller in size, San Jose and San Diego grew at the highest rate, at about 1.5%.

San Joaquin County was the fastest-growing county in the state, adding nearly 11,000 people.

The fastest-growing city in the state was Taft in Kern County, which reopened a correctional facility.
