SAN FRANCISCO (AP) – A San Francisco artist is hoping to be reunited with his painting after it was taken from outside his home, possibly by people who thought it was left out for free.
44-year-old Nicholas Coley says he briefly left a $5,500 painting outside his home while showing another painting to some clients.
The 4-foot by 5-foot painting disappeared during the approximately 10 minutes it was left out on April 11.
Coley asked a nearby hotel to review their surveillance footage and saw a relaxed couple strolling by and then walking off with the painting.
Investigators who reviewed the footage said the couple didn’t look like they were trying to steal anything.
Coley says he won’t press charges and just wants his art back.
