San Francisco (KRON) BART is experiencing major delays on the Fremont to Daly City and Dublin/Pleasanton to Daly City lines due to issues at the Bay Fair and West Oakland stations this afternoon, according to a BART spokesman.
Crews responded at 11:45 a.m. to a problem with the track switch at Bay Fair station, BART spokesman Jim Allison said.
Allison said the track switch remotely moves the trains onto one track or another.
BART crews are unable to remotely move the tracks and as of around 12:20 p.m., Allison said crews were in the trackway manually cranking the
switch to move the tracks.
Trains are being turned back at Hayward and Castro Valley stations, Allison said.
At 12:04 p.m., BART crews responded to a report of metal debris on the tracks between the West Oakland station and the Transbay Tube. Allison said crews were working to remove the debris from the tracks.
San Francisco (KRON) No trains are running through the Bay Fair BART station in San Leandro this afternoon because of equipment problems, a BART dispatcher said.
BART reported major delays through the station shortly after noon. The problems are similar to those caused by a large power outage at the Bay Fair, Hayward and Castro Valley stations on Wednesday afternoon, but BART officials did not immediately know if today’s problems were power-related.
A repair crew has been dispatched to try and restore service. There is no estimated time for service to be restored and BART is working on setting up a bus bridge with the assistance of AC Transit, the dispatcher said.
