Suspect in violent sexual assault of 13-year-old girl in police custody

UPDATE: Violent sexual assault suspect IN CUSTODY and is due in court Tuesday, May 12.

SAN JOSE (KRON) — Police arrested the man wanted for following a 13-year-old girl and sexually assaulting her in her home.  The attack was caught on the family’s home surveillance system.

The San Jose Police Department identified and arrested Suspect Mohammad Khaliqi in connection with the two sexual assaults and was arrested without incident in the 1400 block of School St. in San Leandro, California.

Khaliqi will be booked into the Santa Clara County Jail for multiple counts of Burglary, Attempted Sexual Assault and False Imprisonment.

On Thursday, April 2, 2015, at approximately 12:55 p.m., officers responded to another sexual assault case involving Khaliqi at the Mitsuwa Market at Saratoga Ave. and Moorpark Ave.


Police believe he followed a 28-year-old female victim into the public restroom. He attempted to assault the victim in the restroom. The suspect fled prior to police arrival.

Khaliqi has been at large until his arrest Friday afternoon.
