Antioch robber arrested

UPDATE: Antioch Police Department say they arrested 51-year-old Shawn McGee of Oakland. He was booked into the Contra Costa County Jail for burglary, robbery, terrorist threats, and more.

OAKLAND (BCN) – Authorities are searching for a possible robbery suspect after a pursuit from Antioch ended in Oakland Sunday evening, according to a California Highway Patrol and Oakland police officer.

Oakland police responded to a report of a highway chase that entered the city around 6:40 p.m., Oakland police Officer J. Moore said.

A CHP officer said the pursuit started in Antioch and Moore said CHP officers chased the possible robbery suspect into the city.

The driver abandoned the car near the intersection of Capistrano and Topanga drives near the border of San Leandro, Moore said.

The suspect fled the vehicle on foot and Moore said officers have set up a perimeter and are looking for the suspect.

Moore said he did not know whether the suspect was armed.

No further information was immediately available.
