RICHMOND (BCN)– Police detained a man in Richmond on Thursday after he allegedly threatened an acquaintance with a gun in order to get $4,000 he believed the victim owed him, police said Friday.
Officers responded around 11:30 a.m. to the intersection of Cutting Boulevard and South 22nd Street after a victim reported an armed robbery, Sgt. Felix Tan said.
The suspect reportedly showed the victim a gun that was tucked into his waistband and demanded $4,000 he said was owed to him, Tan said.
The suspect didn’t take anything from the victim, police said.
The victim then called police and Tan said officers were able to detain the suspect.
Police are not releasing suspect’s name at this time because Tan said the incident is subject to an ongoing investigation.
