People Behaving Badly: San Francisco carpool crackdown

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — KRON 4’s Stanley Roberts went out with some officers with the California Highway Patrol and caught quite a few people behaving badly.

Monday through Friday from 3:30 p.m. until 7 p.m., the Sterling Street freeway on-ramp is only for carpools with three or more people.

The only people who don’t need to follow that law are people with a two-seater car, a truck with six or more wheels, or cars with a green or white clean air vehicle sticker.

However, in a special crack-down, officers found quite a few people who didn’t meet those classifications.

Some admitted that they were caught behaving badly, but others claimed it was a misunderstanding.

The fine for a carpool violation is $515. The good news for people who were ticketed during the crackdown? It’s not a moving violation.
