OAKLAND (KRON) — Police are investigating the shooting of 4-year-old girl in East Oakland Tuesday afternoon, according to police Sgt. Holly Joshi. Police are trying to determine if she was a victim of a stray bullet from a nearby shooting.
Oakland police responded to 81st Avenue and Rudsdale Street on reports of a shooting at about 4 p.m.
Officers found shell casings at the intersection and a car riddled with bullets parked on the curb.
Shortly after that at 4:11 p.m. an Alameda County Sheriff’s deputy found the girl with a gunshot wound in the vicinity of 77th Avenue and Macarthur Boulevard, Joshi said, but there was no other evidence of a crime scene at that location.
The victim’s mother told KRON that her daughter, Tyanni Miller, is okay. Her wounds are not thought to be life threatening.
Police detained several suspects at the scene of the shooting at 81st Avenue and Rudsdale Street. Police have not released further details.
