Reward offered in Aptos hit-and-run

SANTA CRUZ COUNTY (KRON) — The family of a 25-year-old pedestrian who suffered serious injuries in a hit-and-run in Aptos is offering a $5,000 reward in the case.

Early Saturday morning, Nicole Brown was walking near her home on Treasure Island Avenue near Winfield Way in the Rio Del Mar neighborhood when a speeding car swerved onto the sidewalk and struck her, the California Highway Patrol said. The impact from the crash reportedly threw her 40 feet.

Emergency crews took Brown to Santa Clara Valley Medical Center in San Jose for injuries that were considered life-threatening. She is now listed in stable condition, according to CHP officials.

The driver of the vehicle was seen traveling west on Treasure Island Avenue, investigators said.

Brown’s family is offering the $5,000 reward for any information leading to an arrest, CHP officials said.
