530-acre grass fire in park area near Antioch 100 percent contained

CONTRA COSTA COUNTY (KRON) — A large brush fire in the East Bay that prompted evacuations of several residences has been contained, officials reported Wednesday night.

According to Conta Costa fire, over 530 acres have burned. The fire is 100 percent contained. There are three areas that had been called for evacuation: Grimsby Drive, Fredrickson Road and a regional reservoir area nearby.

There were cautionary evacuations that have been issued between Alvarado and Silver Creek Drive, but KRON 4 has learned most of the people have been allowed to go home.

Firefighters responded at 4:04 p.m. to reports of a large grass fire at Contra Loma Regional Park and the Black Diamond Mines Regional Preserve just outside of Antioch, a fire dispatcher said.
