FREMONT (KRON) — The man found dead in Coyote Hills Regional Park Sunday morning has been identified as 20-year-old Fernando Vasquez of Stockton.
Vasquez death was deemed suspicious due to the location of his body and the wounds he sustained.
A park visitor found Vasquez in the bushes off Patterson Ranch Road near Paseo Padre Parkway at about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, park police said.
Vasquez, previously a Hayward resident, had a puncture wound on his chest that is suspected to be a gunshot wound. No weapon was found at the scene, park district spokeswoman Carolyn Jones said.
Police closed off the park during the investigation.
Investigators are hoping an autopsy conducted by the Alameda County coroner’s bureau Tuesday will yield answers.
