Fairfield closing parks this holiday weekend due to fire danger

FAIRFIELD (KRON) — The city of Fairfield is closing popular parks for the holiday weekend because of fire danger.

The Rockville Hills Park, Spyglass Open Space, and the Serpas Ranch Rolling Hills Open Space will all be closed.

They were shut down at 8 p.m. Friday night and will not re-open until Monday at 6 a.m.–or until the weather cooperates.

There’s concern about the hot weather and dry grass, Park Ranger Teri Luchini said.

Luchini also said the city is facing a lack of personnel, which also contributed to the decision to close the parks.
