Officer involved shooting in San Pablo, male juvenile shot

SAN PABLO (KRON) — A officer involved shooting occurred in San Pablo around 11:36 p.m. Sunday night, according to police.

Police say they ran a licence plate check on a car and discovered it was a stolen vehicle.

As the juvenile driver of the stolen vehicle attempted to flee, he drove around a bystander’s stopped vehicle, police said.

The suspect then rapidly accelerated directly at an officer who was standing outside of his patrol vehicle, according to police.

The suspect instead struck the patrol vehicle with the stolen car.

The officer fired several shots at the suspect, striking the juvenile once, police said.

The driver of the stolen vehicle continued to drive, striking another vehicle and finally coming to a stop across the street, according to police.

The suspect was taken to a local hospital, where he is in critical condition, police said.

The officer whose vehicle was struck is being treated for his injuries, according to police.
