Bullets fired into occupied residence during Sunnydale homicide

SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — San Francisco police are continuing to investigate the early Saturday morning homicide at the Sunnydale public housing complex and are also working to identify the gunman who shot at an occupied residence, a police spokeswoman said Monday.

Police were responding to a ShotSpotter activation near the intersection of Brookdale Avenue and Santos Street, shortly before 3:30 a.m. on Saturday, when they found 28-year-old San Francisco resident Antoine Davis suffering from at least one gunshot wound to his torso, according to San Francisco police spokeswoman Grace Gatpandan.

Davis was transported to San Francisco General Hospital but was pronounced dead at 4:12 a.m., according to the medical examiner’s office.

Gatpandan said the suspect has been described as a man in his early 20s, but that so far no suspects have been arrested.

Bullets fired during the shooting also struck an occupied residence, but no injuries at the home were reported, Gatpandan said.

The motive for the homicide remains under investigation and it has not been determined whether Davis was the intended target, according to Gatpandan.
