AT&T PARK (KRON) — Many kids will head to ball parks around the nation with their dads this summer, but few will have as much heroic luck as John Pizzi.
The young Giants fan was a couple rows behind home plate at AT&T park with his dad during Sunday’s game against the Phillies when Brandon Crawford hit a foul ball.
The ball took a weird hop and b-lined straight for Pizzi’s father’s head. Young John, with cat-like reflexes reached out and caught the ball inches from his dad’s temple.
“I didn’t really see it coming,” John said. “I stuck my glove out and caught it while my dad wasn’t looking. He turned around, I show him the ball and he starts laughing” Pizzi said in an interivew with MLB.
Pizzi got to keep the ball, and became a hero in the process.
