PG&E stops gas leak near Highway 101 in South San Francisco

SOUTH SAN FRANCISCO (BCN) — PG&E stopped a gas leak near U.S. Highway 101 in South San Francisco Tuesday afternoon, a utility spokesman said.

The leak was reported at 4:21 p.m. in the area of 100 Produce Ave., PG&E spokesman Nick Smith said. A construction crew digging there hit a 4-inch plastic gas line.

PG&E crews responded and had the leak under control in about 30 minutes. Smith said no one was injured, but according to the South San Francisco Fire Department the road was closed while PG&E made repairs.

It was unclear whether the digging crew had called 811 to make sure any gas lines were marked before working.
