SAN BRUNO (BCN) — Trains are moving again tonight after a man was struck by a southbound Caltrain in San Bruno, causing San Mateo County Transit District officials to stop trains in both directions and leading to significant delays.
Southbound train #194 struck a person who was on the tracks illegally at 10:03 p.m., according to SamTrans officials. There were roughly 850 passengers on board at the time.
Officials initially reported this incident as a fatality, but according to a statement issued at 10:35 p.m. the victim was alive and being transported to a hospital.
Trains were authorized to single-track at maximum speed at 10:52 p.m., according to SamTrans. As of 10:56 p.m. train #197 was running 40 minutes late.
Emergency crews and investigators are currently on the scene. Further details were not immediately available.
