ALBUQUERQUE (KRON) — An emergency dispatcher in Albuquerque has resigned amid controversy surrounding a 9-1-1 call.
Dispatcher Matthew Sanchez received an emergency call about a teen who had been shot at a house party.
The 17-year-old lay dying as is friend frantically called asking for help. Sanchez asked several times whether the teen was still breathing, to which his friend replied “barely.” After asking again, the friend responded “I said barely! How many times to I have to answer?”
Sanchez didn’t like the callers attitude and hung up. Tragically, the teen died.
