OAKLAND (KRON) — The details of the death of 8-year-old Maddy Middleton in Santa Cruz are difficult for even adults to comprehend, and even more so, for children–especially given the age of the victim.
KRON 4’s Maureen Kelly spoke to a child psychologist who said parents should trust their own instincts when it comes to choosing to talk about this tragedy with their kids.
How much information they share depends on the age of the child. If they are preschool age, they can understand that the little girl died. But kids in elementary school are able to handle it more.
