WOOD DALE, Ill. (AP) — One person is dead after a sudden storm created havoc today at a festival in a Chicago suburb.
High winds blew a tent where people had sought shelter off its moorings and it collapsed on some of the crowd, killing one person and injuring 20 others this afternoon at the annual Prairie Fest in Wood Dale.
Officials say three people were seriously injured and 17 others suffered minor injuries.
The remainder of the festival’s final day was canceled.
Wood Dale is about 25 miles northwest of Chicago.
