Another dead marine mammal found on Pacifica beach

PACIFICA (BCN) — A dead humpback whale was found on a beach in Pacifica Sunday, according to Pacifica police.

At about 6:30 a.m. Sunday, police said they received a report about a large, dead whale in the surf in the 400 block of Esplanade Drive. This stretch of beach is commonly referred to as Pacific Manor Beach.

City of Pacifica officials are currently in the process of making arrangements to have the whale removed from the beach, said police.

As well, the Marine Mammal Center was contacted to allow scientists the opportunity to study the whale while arrangements are being made. Police said they don’t have a cause for the whale’s death.
