First woman ever to swim from Farallon Islands to Golden Gate Bridge

SAN FRANCISCO (KRON)  — A San Francisco resident, Kim Chambers, has done what no woman has ever accomplished by swimming from the Farallon Islands to the Golden Gate Bridge.

Chambers started her journey Friday night at 11:15 pm ready to take on the treacherous waters of the Pacific ocean.

Chambers, 38-years-old, swam a total of 30 miles and dominated it the whole time. The swim was expected to take approximately 13-18 hours, but Chambers conquered the swim in 16 hours.

Chambers is no amateur when it comes to long distant open ocean swimming. Last year, she completed the Oceans 7 challenge, the seven toughest swims in the world, including an English Channel crossing.
