SAN FRANCISCO (KRON) — The California Highway Patrol has released the photo of a suspect who allegedly jumped or fell of the Bay Bridge as she evaded officers, the CHP said.
CHP tweeted Thursday they were looking for Erlynn K. Sanchez-Edwards, 25, from Richmond as the suspect.
A dump truck driver reported to a CHP officer that he picked up a woman, who was reportedly hitchhiking near the toll plaza, wearing wet clothes and took her somewhere in the East Bay. The vehicle was stolen from Los Angeles, and at this time, the incident is still being investigated.
The woman, who may have been wearing a black dress, reportedly fell 70 feet off the Bay Bridge Wednesday morning following a traffic crash.
The CHP responded at 2:06 a.m. Wednesday to a report of a crash on the bridge east of the Treasure Island off-ramp.
Officers located a crash involving a single vehicle and three women standing on the bike path, according to the CHP.
The group had reportedly left the crash scene and were seen walking east on the bike path.
A responding officer then saw one of the women fall off the bridge and into the water, according to the CHP.
The CHP reported just before 6 a.m. Wednesday there was information a woman allegedly exited the water, just under two miles from the location where the crash occurred.
Officials said that the car involved in the crash was reported stolen in Los Angeles.
The other two women were acquaintances.
